The date is set, venue is booked, and the excitement is overwhelming. Now the fun begins with choosing the delicate touches and details that will shape your unique day! Here are a few must haves to make sure your dream wedding is as gorgeous as you’ve imagined!

Photography

Capturing this day is a top priority for couples getting married. These memories will hang in your home forever, and take you back to these beautiful moments. Whether it’s that first married kiss, grandma boogieing with you on the dance floor, or the little ones carrying rings down the aisle, these moments need to be caught. Great wedding photographers (like us here at Soltren Photography!) are an investment for your wedding that you don’t want to overlook. It’s important to have a professional that shares your vision on how to capture your special day! Be sure to do your research, review their portfolio for weddings they’ve worked on, and ask lots of questions to make sure they’re the right fit.

The Dress

Ultimately, one of the most important pieces to make you stand out on your wedding day is your dress. You might only wear it once, but when you make your way down the aisle, all eyes are on you. Few times in your life can you truly dress like a princess, so take advantage of it! Dress shopping gets overwhelming, especially with opinions from relatives, friends, and future in-laws. You’ll have to start somewhere, so know the basics of shopping for your wedding dress. Once you’ve gotten inspiration from looking in magazines and online, go to a salon and try on a variety of dresses. The best advice is to go with your gut on what you feel the best in!

Not everyone finds just one perfect dress, maybe you narrow it down to three you equally love. From there, using comfort and price is an easy way to eliminate contenders. Be sure to start the dress hunting process early to avoid stress!

You’re basically throwing a huge party for all your friends and family, and all parties need a perfect playlist. Having a great DJ is what will get everyone feeling loose and ready to dance, so it’s definitely an important aspect of your reception! You don’t want to go with the cheapest option for a DJ since it’s such a crucial component, as you’ll be getting what you pay for. Use a portion of your personal loan for details like the DJ (and photography) that will really make or break your wedding.

Definitely talk with your DJ ahead of time about how many slow songs should be played and when to be sure you don’t leave the crowd snoozing. You’ll have a variety of generations attending your wedding, so be sure to include music that everyone will love!

Food

Brides and Grooms often struggle trying to decide what to put on the menu for their special day. Good food is something your guests will appreciate and remember, so don’t gloss over the details. Avoid offering too many options, as this will only increase the price of your caterer bill. For most couples that have budgets, a simple three dish options should work. Choose dishes that satisfy common dietary restrictions including nut allergies, gluten allergies, and vegetarians.

In reality, your guests won’t remember what was served at your wedding down the line, but they will remember if it was good or not. When in doubt step back and think about what you want want to be served or expect to be served at the venue you have booked and what you would enjoy eating at a wedding you were attending.

Kim + Kevin

Memorable Moment:
“One of my favorite parts of this gorgeous Crowne Plaza Wedding happened before the day really even started! One of Kim’s friends showed up at the door with a huge package and when Kim opened the gift that Kevin *MADE* for her… as in, hand painted fabulousness on canvas (see pic below) to hang in their home- she cried. Ok… so  I cried too along with Sarah and the whole room was just in awe! After that gift, we knew the day was going to be spectacular and filled with love!” ~ Jen

How they met:
“Kevin and I met on a blind date through a mutual friend. She messaged me a few of his pictures and him vice versa, he called me, we talked for hours! We went to Florida Seafood and the comedy club in Cocoa Beach on our first date and we’ve been inseparable ever since. We will be together 4 years this coming July! Crazy how time flies!” ~ Kim

How they got engaged:
“Long story =)
Christmas 2014 Kevin’s mom told us she was taking us to Mackinaw Island for all of the help we gave her while Kevin’s dad was sick. I had never been but it was a frequent vacation for their family. We were going in June! My mom’s birthday is also in June and my dad was taking her on a surprise cruise for her birthday…I even had wine a desert delivered to their table for her birthday at the restaurant the day before we left because I wouldn’t be seeing her for her birthday. So off we went to Mackinaw the most romantic quaint little island off the coast of Lake Michigan. It’s eight miles around and no cars. Everything is horse and buggy and bicycle. The first day we got there we settled in and explored. The next morning we got up and went around town with Kevin’s mom and grandma and then him and I went tandem biking around the island. Little did I know what his mom and grandma were up to. That night we got ready for dinner at the Grand Hotel. Was raining and FREEZING! We get there and I finally get warm and dry and Kevin says we should go take some pictures by the fountain. I told him there was no way in hell I was going back outside, he insisted, so I went… We walk down the stairs and head towards the fountain. I had his jacket on so as I go to take it off I turn around and all I see is an umbrella coming towards me. I recognized my moms feet underneath it and that’s where I lost it. I kinda blacked out from the shock so barely remember what he said but we have a ton of pictures and a video so I know it was perfect and more amazing than I ever could have imagined!” ~ Kim

Dorianne + Richard’s day was amazing from start to finish and every detail was just perfect as you can see from the images below. From getting ready to a smores bar and their adorable sparkler exit – nothing was missed!! It was so hard to choose what to post- I think you’ll be seeing others on our instagram & website for sure!  Our lovebirds met at University of Florida where they shared classes for 2 years before talking… but after that, they were stuck together like glue! Richard introduced Dorianne to rock climbing and they became avid hikers. It was on one of these many adventures while hiking the Inca trail in Peru that Richard popped the question. They had been hiking for four tough days and then once they finally reached Machu Picchu, Richard got down on one knee and proposed!!  Dorianne, of course, excitedly said yes and we are just so delighted that they chose us to be present on their wedding day to capture a part of their amazing love story!

Kelly + Gio had a beautiful Maison & Jardin wedding and we were so excited to be there! Miguel has known Gio since he was just a boy running around his fathers restaurant (La Dolce Vita is where Miguel learned his fabulous chef skills) and over the 10+ years he worked there, he (and I) grew close to the Bordenga family. There aren’t enough words to describe how pleased and honored we are to be chosen to capture Gio and Kelly’s love story. They’re truly a match made in heaven!

How They Met:
“Kelly and I met on a random Saturday Night before Halloween. we both weren’t suppose to be there but some how by some way we both showed up to make a blind date our friends were on less awkward. After talking for a while and her driving with me to a Halloween block party, which if you ask her she still doesn’t know why she drove around alone in some random guys car that night. lucky for me she did cause when the night was over we had set up our first date the next night and the rest is history. Over three years later I’m still in awe how so many things had to go right just for us to meet that night, which is just one the many reason I knew I found my soul mate.” ~ Gio

Their Engagment Story:
“We got engaged in st Augustine, where i surprised her on the top of the light house over looking the bay. this sounds super cool and romantic but at the time she was 6 months pregnant and i made her climb up 300 and something odd stairs to the top only telling her she had to see the view. after five breaks on the way up and almost quiting twice she finally made it up to the top where i surprised her and asked the question. after it all she did admit that it was all worth it.” ~ Gio

Oh my goodness, this was a wedding day to remember. Victoria and Jonathan are just the most amazing funny loving and gorgeous people you could ever meet and Their Castle Hotel wedding was filled with love, laughter and glitter coming at you from all directions!  It was simply perfect!

A little bit about Victoria and Jonathan!
How they met…           “It was Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 when both of our BFFs had started seeing each other and invited us out that night to Cowboys which is a country club here in Orlando. Basically…after I danced with Jon, I knew I liked him right away. The very next day he asked to hang out again, so we all got together at his place and coincidentally he ended up living right down the road from me. Jonathan was so cute and sweet that I finally gave him my number and we ended up hanging out pretty much every single day after that…the rest is history =)”

Their engagement story…      “November 1st, 2013 at The Yacht Basin in Ft. Myers (where we took the engagement photos). He said he had been wanting to ask me for a while but was waiting until I had some free time in PA school. He was trying to wait until Christmas but once he bought the ring he could not wait any longer. Jonathan is an engineer and on our way out to dinner one night said he had to go by The Yacht Basin beforehand to look at the stormwater retention and tricked me into going out by the water where he got down on one knee.” ~ Victoria
